There are about 1569 set tea gardens and 210225 small tea gardens in India out of which 451 set tea gardens and 37365 small tea gardens are situated in West Bengal , mostly in North Bengal. STTI is situated in the center of Darjeeling, Dooars, Terai, Uttar Dinajpur, Alipurduar, Coochbehar tea zones.
